Haskins' seminal sixties classic, Cowboy Kate, is a landmark in the history of photography. The photographs contained in this first edition are as revered today as they were when first published 1965. In Cowboy Kate, a lyrical tale of the triumph of youth played out by cowgirls of the old west, Haskins reinvented the genre of the nude with stunningly well-executed photographs, a cinematic approach, and a subtly engaging narrative. Often copied but rarely equaled. One of the most iconic photobooks ever published.

First edition. Folio.(356 x 275 mm). Illustrated throughout in monochrome, typography and design by Sam Haskins and Julius Sher. Original publisher's grey cloth with black title to upper board and spine, original monochrome dust-jacket. Very minor weat to the dust-jacket and very slight creasing where book has slid into slipcase. Overall a near fine copy. First edition of Haskins' second book; his first was Five Girls published in 1962. A spectacular copy of a beautifully printed (in gravure) Sam Haskins title.

Published by The Bodley Head, London, 1965.
