NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR (1984) | 1949, finely bound first edition, first Impression (Navy binding)

£6,500.00 GBP

A fine first edition, first impression of George Orwell's dystopian masterpiece, Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984). The present example is elevated by the beautiful and finely crafted design binding in Navy (I also have similar first edition, first impression example in Royal Green)

Both unique design bindings are dramatically bound in full morocco and hand tooled with 23 carat gold leaf. They have hand sewn silk headbands and as mentioned are available in both Royal Green and Navy bindings.

An exceedingly rare and unique first edition of one of the most important books every written (and also one of the most banned).

Description and Condition:

First edition, first impression, 8vo, bound in full morocco and hand tooled with 23 carat gold leaf. A fine example both inside and out.

It was a real pleasure to work with Mr Oliver Bayliss, even from abroad, everything went so smoothly. You can consign your valuable books with confidence !
Oliver sold a book for me recently and the process couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Bayliss rare books are great to deal with and thanks to Oliver’s experience and salesmanship I was very happy with the final deal.
Highly professional service, extremely knowledgeable and easy to deal with, he's a collector first and foremost and you can see he cares.
Repeat customer. I've bought 4 books now from Oliver. Extremely knowledgeable in his field, he always has really interesting pieces in stock. He has hand delivered 2 of the books I have bought and sent the other 2 out by post. Would highly recommend.
