“We were all the way to Japan flying over the north pole when we heard we were being diverted to Alaska. We touchdown in Anchorage where there was no motorcade to meet us. We crammed into a small bus with me sitting behind Neil and we drove to a local square box hotel. It was sad to see how the countries natural beauty has been screwed up by these buildings.” (Robert Whittaker)

An original, Robert (Bob) Whittaker of Paul McCartney with a Japanese fan taken in a hotel room in Anchorage, Alaska, where The Beatles were diverted due to bad weather whilst on route to Japan for their 1966 tour. 

This original photograph is not part of any known edition. It is titled, dated and signed by the photographer, alongside noting the location it was taken, all in pencil. After research, I can find no other example of this particular photo offered for sale anywhere. Thus a rare and early shot of Paul McCartney at the height of Beatlemania.
