In the past, there has been a lot of discussion about the color tint on the rear panel portrait by Lee Samuels. However, Grissom disagrees with Hanneman's claim that the blue tinted photo on the rear panel came before the olive tint, stating, "identifying a first-printing jacket does not depend on identifying unclear colours on the rear panel: the brown printing on the flaps and rear panel is what distinguishes the first-printing Scribner's jacket."

Description and Condition:

First edition, first state and first issue dustjacket. Octavo. Original publishers light blue  cloth, spine lettered in silver, author's signature to front cover in blind. Minor wear to the head of the spine but overall a superlative example. Internally fresher than most copies found on the market - I have to say it is remarkably fresh and borders on a fine example. The dustjacket is a very good example with some very minor loss to the spine and a few chips and nicks here and there. Other than that the colours are strong and it is an honest example of a rare dustjacket.
