Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Previous ownership inscription to the front free endpaper. Aside from the inscription, the book itself is in excellent condition. In the original dust jacket designed by Trevor Denning, with significant loss to the bottom quarter of the spine and additional loss to the top. A very good example overall, made desirable by the author's signature.

Francis’s first mystery novel, marking the beginning of his celebrated career in crime fiction. Signed copies remain exceedingly scarce.
