Ian Fleming – Diamonds Are Forever (First Edition, 1965)

One of the most beautiful dust jackets in the James Bond collection, and this book dealer’s personal favorite. Diamonds Are Forever is the fourth title in the iconic Bond series, featuring the first mention of Spectre, which would go on to become the organization led by Bond's greatest nemesis, Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

The jacket design, featuring Bond's love interest Tiffany Case, was created by designer Pat Marriott, who would later use a similar approach in depicting Honeychile Rider for the jacket of Dr. No.

Details:

  • Octavo. Original black boards, spine lettered in silver, with silver diamond motif to the front cover.
  • With the original dust jacket, showing none of the typical fading to the spine, which is a common flaw for this title.
  • Condition: Top and bottom edges and endpapers lightly foxed; contents are clean. The jacket spine and folds are slightly toned, with a little rubbing and a couple of short closed tears to the rear panel. Extremities are lightly nicked and creased, but the jacket remains bright and unclipped.
  • With all the requisite first issue points
  • A very good+ copy in a near-fine dust jacket.
