The Hound of the Baskervilles is renowned as one of the most iconic Sherlock Holmes books and widely recognized as an exemplary Edwardian novel. From its very publication, the novel has been adored and highly respected. It is considered among the most visually appealing first edition books ever published with the binding a true work of art. The first edition, first issue is a notorious rarity and also features 16 plates, by Sidney Paget, depicting key scenes from the book.

Condition and description:

First edition, first issue, 8vo with "you" for "your" on p.13, half-title, 16 plates by Sidney Paget, light foxing to title and first few pages, but a clean copy generally, original pictorial cloth, gilt, very light toning, spine ends and edges with neat repairs, corners lightly rubbed, still in effect a remarkably bright and excellent copy  of the best Sherlock Holmes novel, a Haycraft-Queen cornerstone, [Green & Gibson A26], housed in custom-made slip-case.
